THE WRITERS PAGE |
| Copyrighting your script, or any other creative work, is, in my opinion, | |
| the best way of protecting said creation. Even with the new fee structure that | |
| took effect on July 1 of this year. The current fee is $ 45.00, however because | |
| of what you get for that fee it is well worth the cost. The term of a copyright | |
| is for the life of the author plus seventy-five (75) years. Long enough for your | |
| grandchildren to take advantage of the protection thus afforded. So as you can well see | $ 45.00 is in fact a small fee to pay. |
| On the other hand, you can register your creative work with the Writers Guild for | |
| the very small fee of $ 10.00 for ten (10) years, however, this only says that you | |
| registered the work and has no real value in a court of law, Except as backup, | |
|
there is no reason to bother.
